Groundbreaking Fetal MRI Technique Measures Ganglionic Eminence Volume in Transient Brain Structure

A recent retrospective study utilized super-resolution MRI techniques to examine ganglionic eminence (GE) growth dynamics with cortical and total fetal brain volumes (TBV). The study showed that GE volume peaked at 21 gestational weeks, followed by a gradual decline. The GE exhibited inverse growth dynamics compared to TBV and cortical volume. This research highlights the importance of monitoring GE's development, as it plays a crucial role in cortical development and may aid in earlier anomaly detection.
