A randomized clinical trial, the Systematic Multidomain Alzheimer Risk Reduction Trial, reveals that a 2-year personalized, multidomain intervention significantly improves cognition, dementia risk factors, and quality of life for older adults at risk. Participants with health coaching and nurse visits demonstrated a 74% improvement in cognitive scores compared to the control group. Despite some treatment-related adverse events, the study suggests that modifiable risk-reduction strategies should be considered for older adults vulnerable to dementia. The trial, affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, transitioned to remote interventions without compromising efficacy.
