Grouping by Time and Pitch Facilitates Free but Not Cued Recall for Word Lists in Normally-Hearing Listeners

The online studies were conducted in normally-hearing participants to gather normative data on the effects of suprasegmental properties in speech, such as pitch patterns and pacing, on auditory memory. They found that slower pacing and grouping improved free recall, while only slower pacing enhanced cued recall. These findings establish a baseline for comparing the recall performance of individuals with hearing loss and cochlear implants.
