The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has recommended authorising GSK's Arexvy vaccine for respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in adults aged 60 and older, making it the world's first such vaccine. The RSV vaccine market is estimated to exceed USD 5 billion and could surpass USD 10 billion by 2030. GSK is ahead of rival Pfizer Inc in the race to tap into this market. The vaccine is 82.6% effective in preventing lower respiratory tract disease in older adults, according to late-stage study data. In the United States, a decision is expected by May to allow the use of RSV vaccines.
