A case-control study investigated fecal microbiota profiles in healthy volunteers, patients with early-stage, and late-stage melanoma. Patients with melanoma showed distinct community differences, with higher Fusobacterium abundance. Microbiomes differed between early and late-stage melanoma, with higher alpha diversity in early-stage and a higher abundance of the genus Roseburia. No significant associations were found between microbial taxa and disease recurrence in stage III melanoma. The study suggests potential links between gut microbiota and melanoma, emphasizing the need for further research to identify microbial targets for intervention.
