CHD patients have been reported to exhibit higher levels of health anxiety and associated characteristics than their usually developing peers. The relationship between youth and parent health anxiety has been studied in usually developing children, but it is unknown in children with CHD. A prospective, cross-sectional study with 36 school-age children and adolescents with CHD (median age = 10.5 years, IQR = 4) and 35 parents (median age = 44 years, IQR = 10.5) was used to investigate this link. For parents, there were correlations between health anxiety and all measures of related dimensions of interest. The outcomes of the study will help researchers better understand the psychosocial requirements of school-aged children and adolescents with CHD.
