This study aimed to analyze the health status and changes over time in subgroups of heart failure patients with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) based on age, sex, region, BMI, and comorbidities. The Kansas City Cardiomyopathy Questionnaire (KCCQ) was assessed in the EMPEROR-Preserved trial, and the impact of empagliflozin on KCCQ scores was studied. The study found that health status in HFpEF patients is impaired, particularly in the elderly, women, and those with obesity and comorbidities. Empagliflozin improved health status in all subgroups studied, with a greater effect in obese patients. A 5-point increase in KCCQ score was associated with a lower risk of cardiovascular events.
