Healthy bladder storage and emptying functions in community‐dwelling women measured by a 2‐day bladder health diary

This study aimed to determine the prevalence of healthy bladder function in community-dwelling women aged 18 years or older. A total of 237 women completed a 2-day bladder health diary, and only 12% met the criteria for overall healthy bladder function. Healthy voiding frequency and the absence of pain or urinary leakage were common, while postvoid dribbling and urgency were the most common contributors to an overall unhealthy bladder. Factors associated with overall healthy function included middle income, graduate education, and no history of seeking treatment for bladder problems. Further research is needed to determine if these diary-derived measures are meaningful for patient-oriented bladder health research.
