Melasma, a common hyperpigmentation disorder, has driven interest in herbal remedies as alternatives to chemical treatments. This scoping review examined 21 clinical trials on herbal remedies for melasma. Licorice, rhubarb, Aloe vera, parsley, tomato, and Indian gooseberry showed positive results, with licorice being the most extensively studied. Adverse effects such as redness and skin allergies were noted with some remedies. The study highlights the need for further clinical trials and systematic reviews to confirm efficacy and safety.
