
The study investigated the effects of high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) on respiratory physiology during high-intensity exercise in healthy volunteers. Compared to Sham-HFNC, HFNC reduced oesophageal pressure, simplified oesophageal pressure–time product, and improved ventilation distribution, while also decreasing dyspnoea. These results suggest that HFNC reduces respiratory effort and improves respiratory function during exercise, highlighting its potential benefit for managing respiratory effort in chronic respiratory conditions.
