A recent study using data from the MIMIC database examined blood glucose trajectories and their impact on 30-day mortality in 2,432 patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS). Out of the participants, 574 (23.60%) died within 30 days. Researchers identified four blood glucose trajectories: low stable, moderate stable, high decreasing-increasing, and moderate increasing-decreasing. The moderate stable trajectory was associated with a 28% higher risk of mortality compared to the low stable trajectory, particularly in patients aged 65+, females, and non-insulin users. This highlights the need for careful blood glucose management in AIS patients to lower mortality risk.
