This pooled secondary analysis of two large randomized trials (FLUNITY-HD) involving 466,320 adults aged ≥65 years assessed the effectiveness of high-dose versus standard-dose inactivated influenza vaccines. The high-dose vaccine significantly reduced hospitalizations for cardiovascular disease, respiratory illness, and heart failure, independent of pre-existing cardiovascular disease. These findings support preferential use of high-dose influenza vaccination in older adults to enhance cardiovascular protection.
