High Fluid Intake Linked to Bladder Cancer Recurrence and Progression

High fluid intake, particularly before diagnosis, is associated with an increased risk of recurrence and progression in non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). In a study of 1,322 patients, those with the highest pre-diagnosis fluid intake had a 38% higher risk of first recurrence (HR 1.38). A similar association was observed for disease progression, with each additional 150 mL/day of fluid intake increasing the risk. These findings suggest that increased fluid intake may exacerbate NMIBC progression, warranting further investigation.
