The study used Mendelian randomization to explore the relationship between central corneal thickness (CCT) and primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG), finding a positive association. An increase of 50 µm in CCT was linked to a 38% higher risk of POAG. Additionally, 28.4% of this effect was mediated through changes in intraocular pressure. These findings challenge previous observational studies that suggested a protective effect of higher CCT.
