A study evaluated the effects of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) versus moderate-intensity continuous training (MICT) on vascular function in overweight and obese adults. Among 346 participants with a body mass index (BMI) of 25–36 kg/m², HIIT, which reached 85%–95% of maximal heart rate (MHR), was found to be more effective than MICT (60%–70% MHR). Six of the eleven studies indicated that HIIT led to significant improvements in vascular function, including a 3.9% increase in flow-mediated dilation and a 4.8% increase in arterial diameter. The study highlighted HIIT as a more efficient exercise modality for enhancing vascular health in this population.
