The study aimed to determine if patients' mental health improves after hip arthroscopy for femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) and if this improvement correlates with improved outcomes. The study found that patients with low mental health (LMH) status before surgery can improve to normal/high mental health, and this improvement correlated with higher patient-reported outcomes (PROs). Most patients (84%) achieved high mental health after surgery, and improvement in mental health was correlated with improvements in function and activity. However, a small percentage of patients saw a decline in their mental health score.
