Hyderabad's Drugs Control Administration (DCA) has uncovered multiple gangs peddling counterfeit drugs, including those for hypertension, high cholesterol, pain relief, and antibiotics. A recent alert urges the public to exercise caution when purchasing medications, citing the discovery of fake cancer drugs. DCA's advisory provides guidance on identifying spurious drugs, emphasizing their visual similarity to genuine products. Raids in December and January exposed counterfeit drugs under reputable brands like Sun Pharma, Glenmark Pharma, Aristo Pharmaceuticals, and Torrent Pharma. The DCA warns of the serious health risks posed by fake drugs, which often lack active ingredients or contain harmful substitutes.
