Hyperestrogenism is associated with sexual function impairment in men – findings from a cross‐sectional, real‐life study

This study investigated the prevalence of hyperestrogenism and its impact on sexual functioning in men seeking medical attention for new-onset erectile dysfunction (ED). The data from 547 patients were analyzed, and various assessments were conducted, including medical and sexual history, comorbidity scoring, and hormone measurements. The results showed that 17.6% of participants had elevated estrogen levels suggestive of hyperestrogenism. Men with hyperestrogenism were older, had higher rates of comorbidities, and higher serum total testosterone levels. They also had a higher prevalence of severe ED and hypogonadism. Hyperestrogenism was associated with comorbidities, impaired orgasmic function, and increased severity of ED.
