A review of guidelines on managing iron-deficiency anemia (IDA) during pregnancy and postpartum found that only six of 16 guidelines were considered high-quality. The guidelines were assessed using the AGREE II instrument, and those with domain scores over 70% were deemed high-quality. All 16 guidelines discussed IDA management during pregnancy, with 10 also including information on the postpartum period. However, the review found that few guidelines addressed racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic disparities, and many failed to identify barriers to implementation or consider resource and cost implications.
