Identifying Core Genes and Immune Checkpoints in Rheumatoid Arthritis

A study analyzing 5,400 cases and 453,705 controls in the UK Biobank identified 16 core genes outside the HLA region. Six genes were validated via Mendelian randomization, and 14 were linked to immunity. Notably, six encode immune checkpoint receptors, suggesting therapeutic potential. These findings emphasize immune modulation as a key pathway in rheumatoid arthritis treatment.
