The study investigates the sequence of comorbidities leading to heart failure (HF) using the UK Biobank cohort. Findings show that multiple comorbidities typically accumulate over a decade before HF diagnosis, with atrial fibrillation, hypertension, and cancer often preceding it. Women experience comorbidities earlier, and the sequence of disease diagnoses shifts with age. The study highlights the potential for interventions to prevent HF, particularly in contexts like cancer and osteoarthritis, where HF prevention is less commonly addressed.
