In the quest for effective acne treatment, a triple-pronged approach incorporating an antibiotic, antibacterial agent, and retinoid has shown promising results. The topical gel IDP-126, containing clindamycin phosphate, adapalene, and benzoyl peroxide, represents the first fixed-dose triple-combination under development for acne. Two double-blind, 12-week phase 3 studies involving participants aged ≥9 with moderate-to-severe acne confirmed the gel's efficacy, safety, and tolerability. IDP-126 outperformed the vehicle gel, with a treatment success rate of 49.6% and 50.5% at week 12 compared to 24.9% and 20.5%, along with significant reductions in inflammatory/noninflammatory lesions. Most treatment-emergent adverse events (TEAEs) were of mild to moderate severity. The IDP-126 gel demonstrates promise in the treatment of moderate-to-severe acne.
