Immune Atlas Reveals Lifespan Changes and Aging Acceleration

A comprehensive transcriptomic atlas of immune cells across the human lifespan revealed key age-related changes. HLA-expressing NK cells and CD83-positive B cells were prevalent in teenagers, while unknown_T cells were enriched in supercentenarians. Accelerated biological aging was noted in pediatric COVID-19 patients with multisystem inflammatory syndrome. In Kawasaki disease, a shift in myeloid cell signatures correlated with disease severity and treatment resistance, with effective therapies targeting this signature. The PHARE model, developed to predict biological age, showed accelerated aging in coronary artery disease patients. This study provides new insights into immune aging and disease progression.
