Immunohistochemical and histopathological validation of 18F‐PSMA‐1007 PET/CT for intraprostatic cancerous lesions

This study aimed to validate the use of fluorine‐18 (18F)‐PSMA‐1007 positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) for detecting prostate cancer (PCa) lesions within the prostate. Biopsy-proven, treatment-naïve intermediate-to-high-risk PCa patients undergoing 18F-PSMA-1007 PET/CT before robot-assisted radical prostatectomy were enrolled. The study analyzed 125 lesions from 80 specimens. Higher SUVmax values on PET/CT were associated with higher ISUP grade group (GG) and immune reactive score (IRS). Clinically significant (cs) PCa lesions correlated with higher SUVmax, increased tumor length, and higher IRS. The study suggests that 18F‐PSMA‐1007 PET/CT SUVmax can be used to characterize intraprostatic PCa lesions.
