A study analyzed data from multiple trials to assess the impact of comorbidities on the health status of heart failure (HF) patients with reduced and preserved ejection fraction (HFrEF and HFpEF). Comorbidities such as atrial fibrillation (AF), chronic kidney disease (CKD), diabetes, obesity, angina, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), stroke, and anemia were prevalent in both patient groups. HFpEF patients had lower Kansas City Cardiomyopathy Questionnaire (KCCQ) scores compared to HFrEF patients, particularly in physical limitations, social limitations, and quality of life domains. COPD, angina, anemia, and obesity were associated with the lowest scores. Treating comorbidities may improve the health status of HF patients.
