Dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD) significantly impairs patient functionality and burdens caregivers. This study interviewed 30 patients, 20 controls, and 20 caregivers. Patients reported more activity disruptions, especially in reading and hobbies, than controls. Emotional problems were more prevalent in patients and caregivers, especially those employed, who experienced work productivity issues. AMD’s effects were pronounced in patients with moderate-to-severe visual impairment, highlighting the need for comprehensive support.
