A study examined the impact of future changes in hypertension prevalence on health outcomes. Three scenarios based on England's observed trends were considered: continuation, no change, and 50% decrease by 2060. Using a model, researchers predicted outcomes for cardiovascular disease, dementia, disability, and mortality. If hypertension decline halts, there could be a slight rise in deaths by 2060. Accelerating the decline led to fewer deaths, a small dementia increase, unchanged disability, and extended healthy life expectancy. Strategies for hypertension prevention mainly affect future life expectancy. Lower blood pressure's positive effects on dementia and disability might not counter reduced mortality's impact.
