The study evaluated how lymphedema therapy referral impacts knowledge of lymphedema risk among breast cancer survivors. Of 209 participants, 25% had been referred to lymphedema therapy. Survivors who had received therapy referrals were more likely to correctly answer questions about lymphedema risks, such as the link between weight gain and lymphedema and the recommendation to exercise arms during air travel. The study highlights the role of referrals in correcting misconceptions and improving risk awareness.
