Impact of Material Type on Resin-Based Onlay Restorations

The study compares the performance of different resin-based materials for onlay restorations regarding dimensional stability, occlusal wear, and fracture resistance. Resin onlays fabricated from composite resin showed the lowest occlusal wear and the highest fracture resistance and reliability. Additively manufactured resins, particularly those intended for definitive use, exhibited higher surface deviations and greater occlusal wear. These findings suggest that composite resin offers superior mechanical properties for resin-based onlays.
