A study evaluated the impact of COVID-19 vaccination on individuals aged 50 and above. The results reveal a substantial reduction in severe outcomes: 480,150 hospitalizations, 132,156 ICU admissions, and 125,376 deaths were directly averted. This corresponds to a remarkable 63.2%, 68.7%, and 62.7% reduction, respectively, compared to what would have been expected without vaccination. The findings highlight the success of the vaccination campaign in significantly curbing COVID-19 morbidity and mortality, relieving pressure on the healthcare system.
