The cross-sectional study aimed to examine the role of implicit affect in the relationship between postpartum depression and self-stigma. Data were collected from 233 fathers using various scales, including the Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale (EPDS), Self-Stigma of Depression Scale (SSDS), and Implicit Positive and Negative Affect Test (IPANAT). The results showed that postpartum depression had a negative impact on implicit positive affect (IPA) and a positive impact on self-stigma and implicit negative affect (INA). Implicit positive affect was found to partially moderate the relationship between postpartum depression and self-stigma. These findings highlight the significance of postpartum depression in fathers and shed light on the stigma experienced by fathers with depressive symptoms during the transition to fatherhood.
