
A new study shows that the presence of APOL1 risk variants increases the likelihood of chronic kidney disease. The study also found that a small molecule called inaxaplin can inhibit the function of the APOL1 channel and decrease proteinuria in patients with focal segmental glomerulosclerosis and two APOL1 risk variants.
