Incidence and Risk Factors of ADEs in NTM Outpatient Treatment

The study quantified the incidence and risk factors for adverse drug events (ADEs) in 200 patients undergoing outpatient therapy with non-tuberculosis mycobacteria (NTM) infections. Fourteen percent of patients developed pre-specified ADEs, with the most common being thrombocytopenia (9%) and acute kidney injury (8%). Patients receiving aminoglycoside- or oxazolidinone-based therapies had a higher risk of ADEs. ADEs occurred early in treatment (median 25 days), with 35% discontinuing therapy due to ADEs.
