This study highlights the concerning lack of physical activity among adults, particularly in underresourced groups, and its impact on cardiovascular health. It examines the correlation between physical activity levels and cardiovascular disease risk factors, individual characteristics, and environmental factors. It also reviews strategies to increase physical activity in underresourced or at-risk populations and offers practical suggestions for promoting physical activity to improve cardiovascular health equity. Research shows that physical activity levels are lower among individuals with elevated cardiovascular risk factors, certain demographic groups (such as older age, females, Black race, and lower socioeconomic status), and in specific environments (like rural areas). The study suggests community engagement, culturally appropriate interventions, tailored physical activity options, social support, and literacy-sensitive materials as effective strategies.
