The study evaluated the clinical effectiveness, immunogenicity, and safety of repeated and reverse switching between infliximab originator and its biosimilar SB2 in 95 inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients over 48 weeks. Clinical remission was maintained in 80% at baseline and 82% at week 48, with no significant changes in disease activity scores for Crohn’s disease (HBI, p=0.3) or ulcerative colitis (pMS, p=0.9). Median CRP levels and infliximab trough levels showed no statistically significant changes. De-novo anti-drug antibodies developed in only 3.4% of patients, and 14.7% discontinued therapy. Safety signals aligned with previous studies. These findings suggest that reverse switching between infliximab and its biosimilars does not compromise therapeutic efficacy, safety, or immunogenicity in IBD patients.

Age and systolic blood pressure remained key predictors of carotid atherosclerosis.

Treatment-related infections and life-threatening adverse events were also less frequent, although neurotoxic events were more common with blinatumomab.
