Innovative Strategies in Ulcerative Colitis Management

Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease with increasing global incidence and prevalence. Despite various available treatment options, positioning new drugs remains a clinical challenge due to the absence of specific guidelines. UC management is evolving toward a more personalized approach tailored to individual patient profiles. A treat-to-target strategy, focusing on objective parameters such as histological, ultrasonographic, and molecular markers alongside clinical, endoscopic, and biochemical targets, is becoming the preferred method for disease control. Additionally, dual-targeted therapy has emerged as a promising strategy for patients who do not achieve remission with standard treatments. This review provides an overview of current and emerging strategies to optimize UC management and improve patient outcomes.
