The study reports on the feasibility, safety, and efficacy of using an artificial nerve conduit made of collagen for the reconstruction of the recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN) invaded by thyroid cancer. Seven cases of RLN reconstruction using the collagen conduit were retrospectively evaluated, and voice examination and laryngeal endoscopy were performed at 1, 3, and 12 months after surgery. The study concludes that using an artificial nerve conduit for RLN reconstruction may be a favorable option in cases where direct anastomosis or ansa cervicalis to RLN anastomosis cannot be performed.
