Integrating technologies to provide comprehensive remote fetal surveillance: A prospective pilot study

The study assessed the feasibility of extending remote maternal-fetal care by incorporating fetal well-being monitoring. They conducted a study on low-risk pregnant participants, using self-operated fetal monitoring and ultrasound devices for remote assessments. Fetal heart monitoring and amniotic fluid measurements resembled a modified biophysical profile. Out of ten participants, nine completed remote assessments, achieving satisfactory results for amniotic fluid measurements. Telemedicine encounters were significantly shorter than in-person visits, and high patient satisfaction was observed. The study suggests that remote fetal well-being assessment is feasible, time-efficient, and well-received, offering potential clinical and logistical benefits.
