International Atherosclerosis Society guidance for implementing best practice in the care of familial hypercholesterolaemia

This contemporary, international, evidence-informed guidance provides evidence-based strategies for the detection, diagnosis, and management of familial hypercholesterolaemia (FH) worldwide. FH is a genetic condition that leads to high cholesterol levels and an increased risk of heart disease. Worldwide, 35 million people have FH, but most remain undiagnosed or undertreated. Current FH care is guided by a useful and diverse group of evidence-based guidelines, with some primarily directed at cholesterol management and some that are country-specific. The guidance aims to improve FH care by integrating clinical practices and implementation strategies, benefiting millions of undiagnosed or undertreated patients globally.
