Experts developed comprehensive international recommendations for optimal image acquisition using tissue-coupled reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) in the diagnosis of cutaneous tumors. The method involved a modified Delphi approach, including iterative rounds of review and revisions by the Cutaneous Imaging Expert Resource Group (CIERG) of the American Academy of Dermatology. Recommendations covered imaging personnel, lesion criteria, clinical information, image acquisition, and more. While these guidelines are specifically for tissue-coupled RCM, they aim to ensure quality assurance, precise diagnosis, and effective collaboration on a global scale.
