Alkalinized lidocaine significantly reduces pain during BTX-A injections for overactive bladder. In a trial of 41 women, pain scores dropped by 20.3mm on the VAS scale (mean 21.3mm vs. 41.6mm with placebo). There was no significant difference in adverse effects or patient satisfaction. This suggests that intravesical alkalinized lidocaine offers an effective, low-risk solution for pain management in urogynaecological procedures.
