A post hoc analysis of the IN.PACT Global Study reveals comparable long-term outcomes for patients with complex infra-inguinal disease treated with drug-coated balloons (DCBs) alone versus DCBs followed by bare metal stenting. Despite longer and more occluded lesions in the stented group, 5-year freedom from clinically driven target lesion revascularization was similar between both groups (66.8% stented vs. 70.0% non-stented). Safety outcomes, including major adverse events and all-cause death, did not significantly differ between the groups. The study suggests that both treatment approaches offer similar long-term safety and effectiveness in real-world patients with complex femoropopliteal artery lesions.
