Isolation Methods Impact Residual Cement in Implant Restorations

The in vitro study tested rubber dam, PTFE tape, and probe isolation methods with three cement types on 30 implant-supported restorations. Rubber dam minimized excess with temporary cement, while PTFE tape worked best with resin cement. Polycarboxylate cement left the most residue. Proper pairing of isolation technique and cement type significantly reduces residual cement, improving implant hygiene and long-term outcomes.
