IVIG Alone Effective for Kawasaki Disease Without High-Dose Aspirin

The multicenter randomized clinical trial in Taiwan evaluated 134 children with Kawasaki disease and found IVIG alone to be noninferior to IVIG plus high-dose aspirin in reducing coronary artery lesions (CALs). CAL occurrence dropped similarly in both groups, with no significant differences (P = .65). These results challenge the routine use of high-dose aspirin in initial treatment.
