Kinematic Alignment UKA Preserves Knee Kinematics but Increases Contact Pressure

KA UKA maintains knee kinematics but raises contact pressure. A biomechanical study using six cadaveric knee specimens found that kinematic alignment (KA) unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) preserves knee motion patterns but significantly increases peak contact pressure in the medial compartment. These findings enhance understanding of KA UKA’s effects, aiding in optimizing surgical techniques and postoperative outcomes.
