UROLOGY

The study aimed to assess the reliability of trans-perineal laser ablation of prostate (TPLA) in preserving antegrade ejaculation in comparison to trans-urethral resection of prostate (TURP). The study included 51 patients who were randomized into two groups, TPLA (experimental) and TURP (standard), and evaluated for changes in ejaculatory function, pain perception, sexual function, and other secondary endpoints after 1 to 6 months of surgery. The results showed that TPLA preserved ejaculatory function in 96% of cases while a median 30% decrease in ejaculatory function was observed after TURP. Both treatments provided significant relief from benign prostatic obstruction, and no differences were found in pain perception or sexual function between the groups. The study concludes that TPLA is a reliable option for preserving antegrade ejaculation while providing relief from BPO.

An experimental triple antibiotic paste containing nitrofurantoin, ciprofloxacin, and metronidazole showed better cytocompatibility than conventional Hoshino antibiotic pastes and calcium hydroxide in human dental pulp stem cells. The paste maintained about 75% metabolic activity and better preserved cell viability, supporting further investigation as a medicament for regenerative endodontic procedures.

As a single-arm study, the findings are descriptive and require controlled confirmation.

The findings support phenotype-informed risk assessment and personalized prevention and treatment.
