
A recent study investigated the interplay between liver enzymes and hypertension in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The study analyzed data from 1765 participants and found that liver enzymes, specifically alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), γ-glutamyltransferase (GGT), and AST/ALT ratio, partially mediated the association between body mass index (BMI) and hypertension. Results indicate potential avenues for targeted interventions in managing hypertension among diabetic patients. The findings offer valuable insights into understanding the complex relationship between BMI and hypertension in T2DM.
