A study, FOURIER-OLE, extends findings from FOURIER trial on evolocumab's (PCSK9 inhibitor) impact on cardiovascular events. With a 5-year follow-up, it examined patients with and without multivessel disease (MVD). Of 23,656 patients with coronary artery disease, 25.4% had MVD; 5,887 continued into FOURIER-OLE. Evolocumab showed greater risk reduction in MVD patients compared to those without (23% vs 11% for primary endpoint). Benefits tended to increase over time, indicating early initiation of LDL cholesterol lowering in both MVD and non-MVD patients is beneficial. These findings support the long-term efficacy of evolocumab in reducing major adverse cardiovascular events.
