The study analyzed long-term changes in mobility and musculoskeletal pain in adolescents following metabolic and bariatric surgery (MBS) using the Teen-LABS study. Six years post-surgery, walk time and resting heart rate improved, and musculoskeletal pain risk decreased. These improvements were attributed to both weight-dependent and weight-independent mechanisms, suggesting that MBS offers durable benefits for mobility and pain, even with weight regain.
