
A recent study assessed the long-term clinical outcomes of femtosecond thin-flap LASIK (femto-LASIK) in correcting refractive errors following penetrating keratoplasty in keratoconus-affected eyes. The prospective interventional case series included 22 patients with an average age of 32.7 years. The study found significant improvements in uncorrected and corrected visual acuities at short-term and long-term follow-ups post-surgery. However, a notable regression in femto-LASIK's effectiveness was observed in long-term outcomes, suggesting reduced predictability of the technique over time.
